Camp Day 7

Today we travel North over Columbia River returning to Washington State, we stop at McNary Dam visitor center and in the viewing window there is a Pacific Northwest Lamprey. They are anadromous fish and return from the ocean to spawn they do not eat during this time in their life. It is a positive advancements the Dams are attempting at helping migrating fish return up tributaries. Its unfortunate that humans have caused disruption to so many ecological systems. We head to Wellpinit Reservation were we will be camping at the fair grounds. We pass a dam on the reservation, I learn there is no fish passage access for the fish to connect the fish with these upper tributaries😞. High point, WE HAVE SHOWERS HERE, YES!!! Shortly after set up we eat dinner and classmate Cristy Finder shares a traditional story of "the sucker fish and the lamprey" moral of the story do not gamble. This cultural stores are important especially to the younger generation so they can continue to be passed on for future generations. Dinner was much appreciated, it must be fun cooking for such a large crowd. We eat our dinner and everyone is full and satisfied. We all go to bed early after the long road trip.
